African diaspora studies is an interdisciplinary academic field dedicated to the study of the histories, cultures, identities, and experiences of peoples of African descent outside the continent of Africa. It investigates the causes and consequences of dispersal, particularly enslavement, and analyzes the formation of transnational communities, cultural retentions, and ongoing connections within the global African diaspora.
